Another happy client...
A site for a Realtor client launched today:
The client is very happy with it, although it does have a few things I need to go back in and refine. I think my favorite part is that the background says, very subtly, "So Happy!"

All's Fair in Art
The Fair's Fine Art Show was fantastic! I didn't win a ribbon, but, walking through the good-sized show, I noticed one thing that made me proud to be part of it: there wasn't one single "bad" piece of art there. Unlike other county fairs I've been to, where the artwork ranges from the pathetic to the divine, all the pieces in the show were divine. I think mine were the worst ones there, and I was a little embarassed seeing them hanging next to such fine works, but considering the show was fantastic, I was happy to be part of it.
I pick up my pieces today. That was fun!

Both my drawings, "Gate Five View" and "Golden Gate," were accepted into the juried art show at the Marin County Fair!

Finished... I think.
I think I'm finished. I might try to saturate some more color over on the right... Maybe...

Worst commercial song of all time
That stupid, annoying, obnoxious little ditty that plays behind the Prius "Yes" ad. The Prius is obnoxious enough. But adding that song lowers it to depths I didn't know existed.
Well, I ruined it.
That cute little drawing below? I ruined it. It's toast. I started over twice last night, and I think I'm going to start over a third -- and final! -- time this weekend.

Pretty...
I've been checking out a lot of Jennifer Worsley's work lately. I love the moodiness of her work, but above all else I love her use of line.

Just Launched: CleanEnergy.org
"Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that promotes responsible energy choices that solve global warming problems and ensure clean, safe and healthy communities throughout the Southeast."
I designed the interface, the boys created the content management administrator, and another happy client watched their new web site go live. :)

In love with this web site

If I ever have the misfortune to move back to the Beehive State, I would love the good fortune of working for Struck. They produce amazing work, with a sharp sense of humor and an attention to detail.

Thursday Night w/Pencil
Midway through this one I realized I left my eraser and my sharpener way on the other side of the room. So the proportions are a little off, but hey. You gotta run what you brung.

Sculpture
Growing up as a kid in Utah, I had the good fortune of being exposed to art -- real art -- at an early age. My best friend's dad was a bronze sculptor, and her mom was a painter, seamstress, crafter, and decorator. I loved wandering across the street from my house to theirs. I loved seeing the way photographs and paintings were arranged on the walls. I loved the smell of clay (and that old Xerox copier) in her dad's studio. Sometimes Grant would even let us play with the clay. Being that close to a working artist, especially one of Grant's caliber, cemented art in me for good.

It's my birthday!
Things it's taken me 34 years to learn:
1) There are no emergencies in rock and roll.
2) Don't let your fears, your insecurities, and an apprehension about the unknown keep you from your dreams.
3) Don't burn bridges.
4) Family is important; don't take it for granted.
5) When the chips are down, lean on your friends.
6) Work what you got.
7) An investment in yourself is always worth it.

30 Minutes a Day #12
This is my reading chair. My cup of hot tea chair. My magazine chair. Sometimes my TV watching chair, and almost always my legs-thrown-over-the-arm chair. I love this chair because it's asymmetrical -- and not just because I always sit in it lopsided, and have smashed the cushions in irregular ways. It has an Alice in Wonderland shape to it, and it's incredibly comfortable.
Everyone has to have a favorite chair.

30 Minutes a Day #7
March 12, 2008
Today represents the first full week of drawing for 30 minutes every day. I wish the above image was a little better -- both a little better drawn, and a little better photographed -- as I'm not particularly proud of that drawing, but I am proud that I AM drawing, regularly. So far, so good. :)
