Happy Holidays!

A holiday card and a downloadable desktop background, made for my place of employ just in time for the holidays.

It's been busy in my little world lately. Lots of projects, lots of holiday crafts, lots of this and that. :)

Lots More In The Works...

Been busy! Have web site designs in the works for a toy soldier retailer, an interior designer and TV star, a Hollywood personality, and a green lands developer, to name a few.

Belated Mother's Day

My Mom is the greatest.

Having been completely overwhelmed at work, and with some personal life stuff, I did not have enough time to make my Mom a Mother's Day present. She said she didn't care — all she wanted was to know I loved her! Which I do. A lot.

Anyway, here's what I'm working on:

It's that great tote bag as seen on jcarolinecreative.com. I figured it might just be the perfect thing for my Mom to take on the plane when she flies to Canada to visit my brother next month.

I also sketched a bit last night — drew my sewing machine on pink paper with vine charcoal and white chalk.

Did some thinking.

Realized that, deep in my bones, I hate impressionism.

I think...

I think I'm going to try painting again. As soon as I have enough money for supplies.

And in other news...

Tonight is my first night in the drawing studio at the local Art School. I have to pass some basic drawing skill studies before I can join the figure drawing sessions in the studio on Thursday night.

I'm so excited. Art is what I was born to do.

One lucky girl.

I can't believe how lucky I am. I make web sites for rock stars.

It's so fun.

Projects

I had been planning on refinishing this used piano bench this weekend:

But I realized that

a) I don't have an apron to ensure I don't get wood cleaner/stripper and paint on my clothes, so I'll need to sew a really cute one first;

and b) It's raining cats and dogs. Well, butterflies anyway.

So I think I'll head to the craft & fabric stores to find supplies for another project — one which is top secret...

Creative Genius, meet Suicidal Discontent.

I'm feeling very creative lately. I always feel more creative when I'm a little depressed. It's times like these that I can clearly understand how many artistic geniuses are the types that lop off ears, or spiral into the depths of depression. If I liked being depressed more, I'd dive in after them and see just how creative I can get.

Winter always depresses me. It's the dark, the wet, the cold rain and fog. Winters in the San Francisco Bay Area make me want to move back to the high desert — just vanish in the night like the Baltimore Colts.

That said, if I had a nickel for every new creative idea I've invented over the last two months, I'd be a very rich little girl.

One of my New Year's Resolutions for 2009 is to finally — finally! — sell one of my crafts. I'm leaning right now toward the felt applique kit projects. But there's also the board games, the dog accessories, the paper crafts, the rubber stamps, the vector clip art... the possibilities, it seems, are just as endless as the dark, cold Bay Area nights.

Happy New Year!
